Knaresborough Lions Club is supporting the development of a sensory garden at the St Andrews Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate, following the involvement of a team from the centre in this year's Great Knaresborough Bed Race, held in June. The team, which ran as Bobby Dazzlers, had used its participation in the event themselves to raise money for the garden.

The St Andrews Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate is a charity and shares a role with a sister establishment in Auchterarder, Scotland, in providing rehabilitation for emergency services personnel.

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race is an annual event staged by the local volunteer Lions club, which is a huge popular draw. First held in 1966, it attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators in an unrivalled pageant of fancy dress and sporting endeavour. The Lions are also a registered charity and use the race to raise money for local good causes in and around North Yorkshire. Visit www.bedrace.co.uk for more details.
