Knaresborough Lions Club, best-known in the area for organising the town’s annual Bed Race, have launched a one-off fund to support organisations in Knaresborough, surrounding villages and the wider Nidderdale area. Called the ‘Lions Community Fund’, it is designed to support local initiatives in the district.
Details of the Fund and a downloadable application form are available at the bottom of this article. Enquiries can be made to KLionsCommunity@hotmail.com and completed applications should be sent to this same email. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2023 and the Lions will respond during January 2024.
Organisations are invited to apply to the Fund for donations for worthwhile causes, says President of Knaresborough Lions, Bob Godsell.
“We have staged similar funding opportunities in the past before the outbreak of covid. Though we maintained help for local people during the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the effect of these was to seriously reduce our funding-raising activity.
Happily, over the past couple of years, matters have recovered and we are now once more in a position to help. We welcome applications from any local groups involved in providing services in their community.“
Under the terms of the Community Fund, applications are invited for grants for one-off projects. Applications will not be considered for core funding, and will be considered only from properly constituted organisations rather than from individuals.
Individuals and families seeking assistance can contact the Knaresborough Lions in the usual way.
