About Us

Knaresborough Lions were formed in 1987 (33 years ago).

Over the past 15 years we have had some web coverage but it has usually been via other organisations. This is now our own. We are entirely responsible for it and we have several Lions who are able to edit/create articles and news items. We have 32 members and are one of the largest clubs in the area. Each of the members brings along their own life experiences and these range from Doctors to Builders, Technologists to Teachers to Councillors. We can call on a vast range of expertise and it is provided freely and to the benefit of the entire community.

Helping the Community

We help fund, pack and distribute food parcels for the elderly at Christmas, run outings for the elderly and for people with disabilities, donate to social causes at local sports clubs, charities, medical facilities and other organisations, support initiatives in schools and community centres, and help individuals and families facing hardship. We also contribute marshals to community and social events in the local area.

Lions originated in the USA over 100 years ago. There are 1.4 million members and are represented by 48000 clubs all over the world.

Meetings

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at WMC,

25 Kirkgate, Knaresborough HG5 8AD The meetings start at 8pm so please call in and see what we do.
